Your mileage log, at the right IRS rate for every trip

Drop your trip log. Milesheet applies the standard mileage rate for each trip's date and category — the 2026 business rate went from 72.5¢ to 76¢ on July 1 — totals what you can claim and shows what your records are missing. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

🔒 Nothing uploaded🚗 2026 split rate: 72.5¢ → 76¢📅 IRS rates as of Jul 28, 2026🆓 Free, no signup

How it works

  1. Drop your trip log (CSV or Excel) — or try the sample, or download the template.
  2. Pick the tax year, whether you drive as self-employed or an employee, and the car's total miles for the year.
  3. Read the totals and checks, then print the summary. With Pro, see and print the full log and download the Excel workbook and CSVs.

Why Milesheet

For freelancers, small-business owners, bookkeepers and preparers who have a mileage log and need the deduction — and a log that holds up.

From the log you have

Drop a CSV or Excel trip log from a mileage app or spreadsheet. Miles, kilometres or odometer start and end all work.

The rate for each trip's date

2026 business miles use 72.5¢ through June 30 and 76¢ from July 1; medical and military moving 20.5¢ then 23.5¢; charity 14¢. 2023–2025 rates included.

Categories

Business, medical, charity, moving, commute and personal, read from your category column or the trip purpose. Commuting is left out and counted.

Record gaps

Business trips without a purpose or destination, unclassified trips, duplicates, implausible days and odometer overlaps, flagged with the trip.

The rules around it

Business parking and tolls on top of the rate, the five-car limit, the employee rule and reimbursement above the standard amount.

Workbook for your preparer

Pro exports an Excel workbook: summary, the full log with rate and amount, monthly totals, vehicles, the rate table and the checks.

FAQ

What does Milesheet do?

It reads your trip log, applies the IRS standard mileage rate for each trip's date and category, totals business, medical, charity and moving miles, adds business parking and tolls, and flags gaps in the records. It doesn't track drives and doesn't file anything.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Your file is read by JavaScript in your browser tab and never sent to us or anyone else. Trips aren't stored, so closing the tab clears them. Your settings (tax year, role, total miles, reimbursement, name) can be saved in this browser.

Which files can I use?

CSV, tab-separated or Excel with one row per trip. A date is required plus miles, kilometres, or odometer start and end. Category, purpose, from, to, vehicle, parking and tolls are optional. Download the template to see the layout.

What's free?

Importing any number of trips, every total including the 2026 rate split, and every check, plus the first 25 rows of the log on screen and in print (with a footer). Pro shows and prints the whole log and exports the Excel workbook and the log and monthly CSVs.

Is everything it totals deductible?

Not necessarily. Business miles go on Schedule C if you're self-employed. Medical miles count only as part of medical expenses on Schedule A, which are deductible above 7.5% of AGI; charity miles only if you itemize; moving miles only for active-duty Armed Forces moves. Employees generally can't deduct unreimbursed mileage.

Is this tax advice?

No. Milesheet applies the rates on the IRS standard mileage rates page (updated July 28, 2026) and rules from Publication 463 and Notice 2026-10 to the data you provide. Ask your tax adviser what applies to you.
